Most would equate the words budget hotels to shady establishments with rundown rooms and rowdy backpackers as neighbors. This is definitely not true when it comes to budget hotels in Bangkok. Many affordable hotels in Bangkok are in the 3 star range, some even bordering 4 stars. Since there’s such a drastic difference between Thai currency and most foreign currency means favorable rates for some pretty nice hotels.
The good thing about most budget hotels in Bangkok is that most are strategically located in prime locations in central Bangkok. Most are also near Bangkok’s super efficient BTS Sky Train, which is an elevated train system that runs above the popular tourist commercial areas.
Some are already near shopaholic’s paradise such as the Samran Place hotel. For 1000THB per night including breakfast, you’re just a 10 minute walk away from MBK shopping mall, Siam Square and the luxurious Siam Paragon Mall. There’s even a BTS Sky Train station just right outside that can zip you across town to other popular shopping destinations.
If shopping is not your cup of tea but Thai history and temples are, then New World City Hotel may just be the right place for you. Their room rates start at 1100THB per night including breakfast and you’re 5 minutes away by taxi to the majestic Grand Palace and the tranquil Wat Po Temple. There are also many museums for history buffs to discover as well.
There are also hotels that put you comfortably at the edge of Bangkok’s hustle and bustle yet close enough if you’re looking for it. Bhimann Inn is one such example located at the old historic quarters of Bangkok. For 900THB with breakfast included, there’s even a small clean pool for guest use. It’s a budget travelers dream location as it’s near the popular Khao San Road district where inexpensive food and drink are readily available.
One final inexpensive Bangkok hotel worth mentioning is Bedrooms Boutique Hotel. A superior room there will set you back 1400THB per night including breakfast and you’re just one short BTS train station from the posh trendy neighborhood of Thong Lo (Sukhumvit Soi 55), which has some of the coolest shops and clubs such as Ice Bar. Since there is a BTS station right next to the hotel you’re definitely within arms reach of all the nightlife districts in Bangkok.
